Plans/supervises/coordinates the activities of libraries in the rural Glades service area of Palm Beach County (PBC), including the Belle Glade, Clarence E. Anthony (South Bay) and Loula V. York (Pahokee) branches. Formulates/interprets/explains library policies and procedures to the public and staff; resolves sensitive public complaints/relations issues. Reviews/edits/summarizes/submits budget recommendations for Glades area branches. Monitors expenditures; writes/reviews performance evaluations; issues counseling forms/disciplinary actions; handles employee complaints/grievances; recommends the hiring, promotion and termination of staff; conducts training/staff development of Glades area branches supervisory personnel; provides opportunities for staff continuing education; performs related work as required.

Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association; minimum of three (3) years of professional library experience that includes two (2) years of supervisory or administrative work.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Conducting oral presentations/speaking in public; managing a library’s major department/branch; training/supervising personnel for three (3) or more years; in a multi-outlet public library system (must specify on application); using automated circulation systems (must specify on application).
