Description:

General Description:  This position will assist in the further development of networking and communication solutions to aid in the efficient deployment of network and communications technology and practices on the County network and its various heterogeneous systems.  This position reports to the manager in charge of Network Services.

Essential Job Functions:
The Technical Analyst II supports Pasco County communications technology initiatives to include Constitutional offices and cross functional teams.  Installs, configures and maintains all network infrastructure and communications components, identifies and resolves  issues, follows escalation and notification procedures.  Performs change management duties, monitors changes as they are implemented into production, and reports progress.  Participates on communication project teams and performs other operational support duties.

Keeps abreast of technology deployments and activities within the department to ensure individual standards are maintained.  Performs administration, maintenance and support functions for;  NEC TDM telephone systems, Cisco routers and switches, Cisco ASA appliances, load balancing appliances, Cisco wireless access points and mobile wireless  applications. Additional duties may include desktop support, production computing application support, and basic server support.  The position also performs analytical and troubleshooting functions, provides status reports giving detailed description of task and time devoted to each task.  On call responsibility and occasional off hours work is required.

Education:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess knowledge of operational support best practices, including documentation, scheduling, and troubleshooting methods.  Knowledge in as many of the following subjects  is preferred: TDM/Key phone systems, VOIP telephone systems,  email and cellular Push to Talk technologies, smartphones & email integration, Microsoft enterprise desktop and computing environment, Microsoft SCCM, IP and subnets with VPN tunneling, firewall and internet security.  Possess the ability to multi-task between operational support and project support.  Possess the ability to work independently as well as a team player.
 Minimum Requirements:
PHYSICAL SKILLS:  Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects.  Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and two years experience in development and maintenance of network, communications, or desktop computing environments; OR graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and four years experience in development and maintenance of network, communications, or desktop computing environments; OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and six years experience in development and maintenance of network, communications, or desktop computing environments Experience in Microsoft, Cisco, Mobile wireless and VOIP are preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:  Must possess a valid driver license.  Microsoft Certified System Engineer, Professional Certification, or CCNA or equivalent technical certificate required if the applicant does not have a Bachelor's Degree.
