Instructional Services Librarian (search extended)

Florida Southern College seeks a service- and technology-oriented librarian to serve as an educator for library resources. The Instructional Services Librarian is responsible for designing, teaching, and promoting the information literacy program within an outcomes assessment and skills-based model. This is a full-time, twelve-month non-tenure track faculty appointment at the rank of Librarian reporting to the Director of the Library. Salary is commensurate with experience and benefits are competitive. Consideration of applicants has commenced and will continue until the position is filled. The target start date is May 16, 2016.


The Instructional Services Librarian supports the library instruction program at Roux Library. This includes, but is not limited to, developing, conducting, and evaluating library instruction sessions and for-credit courses; creating instructional materials in diverse formats; working as a library liaison to integrate information competencies into the curriculum by developing resource-based learning experiences; and expanding the library instruction program. The librarian also provides point-of-use reference and research consultation service; co-develops the library website and library public relations material; participates in the library’s scheduled public services staff rotation including some evening and weekend hours, serves on faculty committees, and attends faculty meetings and other required functions.


Qualifications Required

Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program; demonstrated familiarity with current theory and practice in information literacy, library instruction, and assessment; knowledge of electronic and print reference and information resources; experience delivering library instruction; commitment to professional development; outgoing, mature, and confident personality; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and work, fieldwork, or internship experience in an academic library.

Qualifications Preferred

Familiarity with curriculum planning and assessment; proven ability to create and sustain a team environment; project management, community outreach, and social media experience; excellence in personal academic achievement; high-caliber work ethic; and flexibility and resourcefulness. Undergraduate studies in natural sciences a plus.
