This is a supervisory position responsible for public service delivery. Develops and implements division policies and procedures, creates services timeline, trains and supervises support staff, plans classes and programming to meet educational standards using various modalities and interests. Must be creative and adaptive to upcoming technology in order to implement and train library users, develop outreach and enhance library services. Responsible for the selection and de-selection of consumable library print and digital materials. Supervises full and part-time staff in the delivery of customer service, passport services, creates reports as needed, and provides technology assistance. Ensures compliance with library policies and procedures, and our RISE Service Standards. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and reports to a Library Administrator.
Bachelor’s degree in Library Information Science, Education, Technology or Management.
Three (3) years of Library or Media Specialist experience.
Students currently enrolled in an ALA accredited MLIS program with two (2) years’ experience in circulation and program instruction preferred.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Active involvement in professional organizations (ALA, FLA, Multi-type cooperative, etc.).
Strong communication skills required, including fluency in English (oral and written). Bilingual preferred (Spanish-English; French/Creole-English).
Proficient in the use of technology in various areas of service and administration. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products, knowledge Databases, Creative technology, ILS and supportive hardware and software.
Experience in providing classes with educational content and assessment practices.
Previous cashiering experience a plus.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s license with minimal citations (no more than six points).
