Provides information services and programming in a library branch. Manages one or more projects. Manages day-to-day operations. Makes decisions based on published policies, but refers unusual situations to supervisor. Receives supervision from Senior Librarian or Director. Responsible for daily cash handling procedures. Monitors and maintains collection. Shelves books. May provide outreach services. May plan and conduct programs, book talks, or school visits. Works well with supervisors to develop and implement department or branch goals within overall system goals. Monitors and maintains branch public access computers. Helps public sign up for and use of public computers. Gives basic instructions to public in use of library catalog and online databases. Maintains facility and reports problems to appropriate staff. Maintain accurate records or fines, fees and service statistics. Prepares monthly and financial reports. Assists in the operation of the Library’s Circulation Desk; providing library services to the public; performing basic clerical tasks; assisting in the maintenance of files, records and statistics; and performing other library related duties as assigned. Excellent customer service skills and basic computer skills required. Supervision of two Library Assistant I employees; prepares annual evaluations; and other management duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred. Two years of Para-professional library experience in area of job responsibility is required with at least one year as a supervisor is preferred. Strong customer service, computer skills and public relations skills required.
