Description:

LIBRARIAN, SUPERVISOR

Salary Range - $60,064.45 - $95,862.10 Annually (dependent upon classification and qualifications)

The purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section.  This includes supervising staff, project or program coordination cultivating outreach efforts, and supporting division-wide initiatives. This position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference  services, programs and readers advisory.

 

LIBRARY SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR- PROGRAMMING

Salary Range- $21.62 - $34.51 Hourly (dependent upon classification and qualifications)

 

African American Research Library & Cultural Center (AARLCC) serves as an integral part of the community, offering classes in computer technology and educational, recreational, and cultural programs on a regular basis.

The purpose for this position is the supervision of a large unit and project coordination; supervision and training; resolve day to day operational issues of a large unit; develop, and implement programs and services, including division-wide initiatives. 

This position will provide supervision for the programming unit, coordinate projects, train, resolve day to day operational issues of the unit; coordinate and schedule events for a fully equipped auditorium, oversee installations of displays in a 5000, square feet gallery, develop and implement program and services, including division-wide initiatives.

Salary Range- $51,974.83 - $82,953.11 Annually (dependent upon classification and qualifications)

LIBRARIAN- CATALOGING

Salary Range - $ 44,975.98- $71,781.73 Annually (dependent upon classification and qualifications)

 

 

This position will plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section. This includes supervising staff, project or program coordination cultivating outreach efforts, and supporting division-wide initiatives. This position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference services, programs and readers advisory.

The Collection Management unit provides system-wide support for the Libraries Division and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating,  the selection, development, and maintenance of the library's collections. 

The purpose of this position is to support the cataloging, metadata, and discovery services of the library system. The selected candidate will perform original and copy cataloging of diverse materials in a full range of subject areas to facilitate their identification, access and use; oversee quality of control of previously cataloged content; plan, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the cataloging and processing section.  This includes supervising staff, projects or program coordination, and supporting division-wide initiatives. This position is also responsible for  running collection reports, weeding and removal of records from the catalog, digitization of materials, metadata tagging, and collection development.

 

LIBRARIAN- COLLECTION MANAGEMENT

Salary Range - $44,975.98 -$ 71,781.73 Annually (dependent upon classification and qualifications)

 

The purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section. This includes supervising staff, project or program coordination cultivating outreach efforts, and supporting division-wide initiatives. This position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference services, programs and readers advisory.

The ideal candidate will select library materials related to all ages; review and recommend electronic resources for addition to the collection; assist the Collection Development team in the selection, de-selection, and assessment of the Libraries' collections, physical and digital; supervise various administrative functions in the Acquisitions unit;  coordinate the selection and acquisition, licensing rights, and access for serials and electronic resources in all formats; manage a portion of the collection budget and produce reports from the integrated library system to analyze usage; maintain effective relationships with book vendors and electronic service providers.  The position shall also serve as a resource for internal customers regarding ordering guidelines, order status, budget management, and other issues that facilitate effective internal and external service.

This position will also visit libraries to consult on collection needs, weeding projects, materials security concerns, and best practices in marketing the collection. Other responsibilities include maintaining awareness of current publishing trends and emerging models for delivery and access to collections, and promoting an understanding of such issues among library staff; providing and/or coordinating database training for public service library staff.

 

 

LIBRARY SPECIALIST, SENIOR- COLLECTION MANAGEMENT PT-19

Salary Range- $18.71 - $29.86 Hourly (dependent upon classification and qualifications)


The ideal candidate will provide direct public assistance to customers, including: identifying the needs of customers, obtaining library materials, and supporting Circulation or Information Team Services. The position is also responsible for supervising a Circulation Services section and project coordination, supervising and training staff, cash handling, resolving day to day operational concerns/issues related to Circulation functions and/or assisting with programming for all ages. Additionally, the successful candidate must have basic proficiency with computers, filing, and data entry experience.

The Collection Management Unit provides system-wide support for the Libraries Division and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the selection, development, and maintenance of the library's collections.

The purpose of this position is to plan, organize and perform copy cataloging in the Dewey Decimal Classification, processes new materials, and performs basic data entry assignments, with other work duties as assigned.  This position also performs a variety of support tasks, including: scanning images from original documents; recording descriptive metadata and creating a detailed record for the item.

 

 

 


Education:

LIBRARIAN, SUPERVISOR

Requires a Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or closely related field.

Requires two (2) years of professional library experience providing services to all ages including one (1) year of lead work/supervisory experience.

LIBRARY SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR- PROGRAMMING

 

Requires an Associate's degree or two (2) years of higher level education from an accredited college or university.

Requires four (4) years of library operations and processes experience using library automated systems including two (2) years of lead work/supervisory experience.
