Information Specialist, University Libraries - 101990
The University of West Florida University Libraries in Pensacola, Florida, is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Information Specialist 101990. The Information Specialist performs patron account management especially with regard to all library fines; processes daily cash transactions, paid fee reports, lost books, claims returned, and deals with other various patron account issues; and performs daily/weekly/monthly inventory of all circulating equipment, depending on equipment type. The incumbent also follows up with delinquent patrons and coordinates with police when the situation necessitates. The incumbent inputs and modifies all types of library fines and lost books bills into the University Accounts Receivable System; serves as the liaison between the Library and the UWF Cashier's Office for patron account issues; and reconciles the Library's patron account information with the University Accounts Receivable System. The incumbent works with the Department Head to create and/or modify Library accounts management policies and procedures.
Additionally, the incumbent performs circulation desk duties (including, but not limited to, circulating items, supervising desk student(s), dealing with circulation problems, receiving packages, assisting patrons with locating course reserves, and retrieving items from remote book drops); opens the library daily Monday through Friday; occasionally closes the library, if needed; and works rotating Saturdays. This position also spends additional time assisting patrons with account management when he/she is not working his/her assigned public service desk shifts.
The incumbent maintains and annually updates a position policy and procedure manual to reflect daily, monthly, annual, and ad hoc responsibilities; develops and maintains library statistics relevant to this position; and participates on committees and task forces as appropriate.
Minimum qualifications: A High School diploma and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Salary range: $25,000 - $27,500 annually.
