The University of West Florida University Libraries in Pensacola, Florida, is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Information Specialist 107670. The Information Specialist coordinates the Textbook Reserves Program to ensure the library has copies of all required undergraduate textbooks, communicates with faculty regarding the addition of textbooks to the program, and communicates with relevant University departments to publicize the textbook program. The incumbent also solicits feedback from faculty and relevant University departments to determine success of the program, as well as to anticipate future needs.
The incumbent performs circulation desk duties (including, but not limited to, circulating items, supervising desk student(s), dealing with circulation problems, receiving packages, assisting patrons with locating course reserves, and retrieving items from remote book drops). Additionally, the incumbent oversees all circulation and library activity during the evening/late-night hours Sundays through Thursdays (including, but not limited to, dealing with building maintenance and /or building/patron security issues, ensuring building security at closing by clearing patrons out of the library, shutting down equipment, and locking and alarming all doors). This position is responsible for clearing and locking down the entire library building at closing Sundays through Thursdays.
The incumbent assists the OPS/Work Study student supervisor by ensuring evening tasks assigned to students are completed; provides training for students who primarily work evening shifts; reports problems/issues/concerns about student work during the evening shifts to the OPS/Work Study student supervisor and the Circulation Supervisor; and coordinates with the Stacks Manager on tasks that can be completed during evening shifts.
The incumbent maintains and annually updates a position policy and procedure manual to reflect daily, monthly, annual, and ad hoc responsibilities; develops and maintains library statistics relevant to this position; and participates on committees and task forces as appropriate.
Minimum qualifications: A High School diploma and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Salary range: $25,000 - $27,500 annually.
