The Library Foundation for Sarasota County is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, detail-oriented library-loving individual to manage and administer Creation Station makerspaces, a program expanding as a result of the Foundation’s newest endowment campaign for Sarasota County Libraries. This individual will be an employee of the Foundation, and will work closely with Sarasota County Library System (SCLS) staff.
The primary role of the Creation Station Coordinator is to work with SCLS staff responsible for Creation Station activities. The coordinator will provide leadership for the initiative at all Sarasota County Libraries, including planning, executing and measuring outcomes associated with Creation Stations. This includes everything from managing all resources involved in Creation Stations (such as ordering, tracking and creating inventories for supplies and equipment), as well as the reporting required for a significant grant that is helping make this initiative possible.
This position includes, but is not limited to:
Managing all aspects of the budget and acquisitions, including administration of grants;
Preparing reports related to Creation Station participation and learning outcomes;
Assisting and training libraries staff and patrons to use Creation Station resources, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, digitization equipment, Cricuts, Adobe Creative Suite Software, etc.;
Assisting in the development and marketing of Creation Stations;
Serving as the spokesperson for inquiries related to the initiative and representing the Library Foundation and Sarasota County Libraries to the public;
Developing Creation Station outreach activities; and
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
Effective verbal and written communication skills are a priority
Excellent customer service skills, ability to multitask, ability to adapt to various and changing duties as required
Experience in a programming or technology-related position in a public library preferred
Skill in operating library technologies. Skill in using various technology devices and imparting this knowledge to customers, staff and volunteers of all ages
High degree of technological aptitude; familiarity with makerspace technology and concepts
Ability to create and deliver high-quality library programming for all ages
Knowledge of current trends in libraries and makerspaces
Experience building community partnerships
Ability to effectively troubleshoot and address a variety of hardware/software challenges

This position is part-time at 30 hours per week. It does not include benefits. Hourly rate is $15-20/hour.
The Coordinator will be based at one of the library branches, with travel to all locations and a work space at the County Administration Center. The position will be managed jointly by the Library Foundation for Sarasota County and Sarasota County Libraries Administration.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Specialized knowledge or skills related to record keeping and/or the Maker Movement including but not limited to Windows, Mac OS and iOS, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D printing, coding, robotics, crafting, multi-media production, etc.
Demonstrated ability to create library programming or similar educational activities and evaluating the outcomes
Knowledge of effective grant writing, monitoring and report preparation processes
Advanced knowledge of or extensive experience with creative learning, participatory learning, or collaborative learning theories and practices and their implications for library programming
Demonstrated proficiency to work effectively with diverse cultures and an ability to build partnerships with representatives of community organizations
Driver’s license with safe driving record
Ability to pass a background check and substance screening
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university
1+ years of experience working with creative technology hardware, software and related tools (e.g. electronics and robotics kits; 3D design software and 3D printers; laser cutters; e-textiles; coding; electronic music production and animation software; and/or other creative technology tools) in a lab or educational setting is highly desirable
