ALA:
Position REQUIRES a Master's degree from an ALA accredited program.

Description:

Manages and coordinates the administrative, programmatic and operational activities of the Bureau of Library Development. Provides technical and administrative consultation with library staff, civic groups, local and state authorities, and other people working with the Bureau. Collaborates with Bureau Chiefs on Division services and programs.

Coordinates the development, planning, access and preservation of the Division's digital assets. Assists with Department digital assets as appropriate.

Coordinates planning and access of external cultural heritage organization’s digital assets.

Supervises the planning and evaluation of state and federal grant programs.

Directs publication and dissemination of information pertinent to administration, program development, and other aspects of library development services.

Represents the State Librarian and Division at meetings and professional conferences and consults with other agencies as considered to be in this agency's interest as requested by the State Librarian.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Education:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in library and information science from an American Library Association accredited program.

At least five years of professional library work experience with five years in a supervisory capacity.

Experience in evaluating and planning library development programs.

Experience in preparing professional presentations.

Experience managing contracts and grants.

Experience in managing budgets and financial resources.

Experience in drafting and interpreting laws and rules governing libraries and library grants.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of management and leadership methods and materials

 

PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Prior administrative experience with a state library administrative agency.

Knowledge and understanding of issues, trends and practices of library leadership and management as well as of current technologies related to innovative library programs.
