The Headquarters Library is seeking a Library Program Specialist to coordinate and present age appropriate programs to meet the needs of 11 to 17 year olds. Maintains the day-to-day operations of Library Specialist programs; creates and updates strategic plans and goals for Library Specialist programs insuring compliance with the County and Library's Strategic Plan; serves as liaison with external agencies, activities, groups and/or functions to promote the goals of Library Specialist programs. Emphasis on Tween/Teen services and developing programs to meet Young Adult interests: technology, STEAM, makerspace, Library Comic Con and other current trends. Conducts surveys, public meetings and individual meetings to determine the program and service needs and desires of the surrounding communities, such as a Teens' Advisory Group. Based upon program and services determinations, plans, develops, organizes, directs, and presents programs, presentations, and special events. Performs regular analysis of program and service offerings. Provides technical assistance, information, and referral to patrons; follows through with inquiry response for information and assistance; maintains up-to-date agency contacts for efficient service to patrons. Conduct in-house programs or outreach to promote databases such as Brainfuse, Mango, or Hoopla. Recruits, coordinates, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in providing program services and support; conducts in-house and outside training workshops; plans, prioritizes and performs work schedules. Schedules class and programming facilities to ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources; selects, orders, and inventories materials.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level coursework; one to two years of experience in creating library programs, personnel management, data management, literacy, teaching, or counseling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
