Assistant Librarian - Head of Technical Services - 105730

 

The University of West Florida Libraries in Pensacola, Florida seeks an Assistant Librarian (position #105730) to manage the Technical Services Department. Responsibilities of this position include managing the Technical Services Department, oversight for the Libraries' Institutional Repository, acting as the Libraries' specialist on issues of bibliographic control of electronic and digital services, and responsibility for original cataloging of monographs, serials, government documents, and media. Regular work schedule is Monday through Fridays. Position reports to the Dean of Libraries. This is a full time twelve-month non-tenure earning position with faculty rank and status.

 

The successful candidate must be able to thrive in a collaborative and innovative environment; enthusiastically participate in projects involving new and emerging technologies; have an excellent customer service philosophy, communication skills (written and oral), and organizational skills.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in library science, or the equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution and appropriate experience as a professional librarian consistent with university guidelines.

 

 


Education:

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited institution in library science
  • Experience supervising staff and student assistants
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cataloging standards and tools
  • Experience with bibliographic utilities and integrated library systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Appropriate professional, academic library experience consistent with university guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience in cataloging and metadata standards and practices
  • Experience working in a consortial environment
  • Experience with ILS migrations
  • Experience in a shared bib environment
  • Experience with Aleph ILS
