Plans, supervises and coordinates the activities of a large branch library. Interprets and explains library policies and procedures to the public and staff; resolves member complaints/problems; prepares branch budget recommendations; monitors expenditures; oversees/approves adult, children and teen classes, events and activities. Trains and directs professional/other Library System personnel; writes performance evaluations; issues counseling forms/disciplinary actions; handles employee complaints/grievances; recommends the hiring, promotion and terminations of staff; performs related work as required.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association; minimum of three (3) years of professional library experience that includes two (2) years of supervisory or administrative work. Preference for experience: Conducting oral presentations/speaking in public; managing a library’s major department/branch; training/supervising personnel for more than three (3) years; using automated circulation systems (must specify on application).
