Applies working knowledge of basic library practices, procedures and related equipment.
May serve in the capacity of “backup supervisor” in the absence of the Branch/Section Supervisor. Duties to include, overseeing library departmental functions and making appropriate decisions.
May be required to assign and oversee the work of others.
Troubleshoot behavior incidents, respond to debt collect questions and manage volunteer concerns. Provide clientele support at the Circulation desk and throughout the library for computer and technical assistance. Requires flexibility and leadership while exercising good judgment
Communicates clearly and effectively, orally and in writing; interprets library policies/procedures to the general public and staff in a clear and tactful manner; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
Covers the public desk as assigned.
May lead or assist with public computer classes and equipment/material instruction.
May participate in acquisition and cataloging functions.
May arrange branch exhibits and displays and programming for all age groups.
May prepare draft press releases for the branch supervisor.
May prepare statistical and other monthly/annual reports.
Serves on in-house committees as required.
May perform interlibrary loan processing.
Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.
Ability to push book truck and shelve books, which may include standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching and climbing.
Skill in computer operations, including pertinent library-related software applications and other general applications, i.e., MS Office, etc.
