Primary function is to supervise provision of full services of the Circulation Department within the Key West Headquarrters Library. Duties frequently include scheduling staff members to ensure coverage in all departments, and coordinating volunteeers' activities. Familiarity with Integrated Library System processes is essential. Key responsibilities include responsibility for all areas of the Circulation Department, training new employees in circulation services, and developing systems and methods for accomplishment of administrative and technical tasks related to the Circulation Department. Also included: participation in the selection/acquisition of library materials in formats including print, audio, and electronic, planning and oversight of programs for adult patrons, which may include book clubs, movies, and author presentations, as well as outreach programs for adult patrons who are unable to come to the Library.
A Master's Degree in Library Science is required, as well as 3 to 5 years minimum amount of prior related work experience, with emphasis on public library experience. Any combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills to alow successful performance of the job may be considered.
