Lee County Library System, a dynamic forward-thinking organization, is offering enthusiastic, community-minded candidates the opportunity to lead the team at the North Fort Myers Public Library in Lee County, Florida. The library will be moving to a new 25,000+ square foot facility in the summer of 2019 and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the transition of staff, collections, and operations to the new building. As Senior Librarian, Branch Manager, you will lead a staff of fourteen full-time and four part-time employees in providing library services to the North Fort Myers community. The Lee County Library System’s 13 branches include six regional libraries, two mid-sized libraries, including the North Fort Myers branch, and five community libraries as well as a bookmobile and a Talking Books library. The library system currently has a collection of 1.9 million items in a variety of formats and circulates around 6 million items per year. More than 274,000 Lee County residents are registered users.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise staff and volunteers and coordinate workflow for effective service delivery.
Manage the daily operation and upkeep of the library facility and grounds.
Manage branch collection maintenance, including material selection and weeding.
Coordinate branch programming and outreach.
Relate positively to a diverse population and provide stellar customer service to patrons of all ages.
Promote teamwork and cooperation through productive interactions with colleagues at other branches, Library Administration, and Library Processing.
Use considerable independent judgment and initiative along with established policies and procedures to assure a competent staff and high quality service to both internal and external customers.
Work effectively with the Friends of the Library and other community groups
Monitor branch budgets and make recommendations about budgetary needs
Actively seek and participate in professional development opportunities and stay abreast of emerging technology and trends.
Salary range: $46,833.03 - $84,332.56 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

Lee County Board of County Commissioners employees participate in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) or employees may contribute to a Deferred Compensation plan. Within the FRS, employees contribute 3% and the employer contributes 7.26% (before any Florida Retirement System deductions).

This position is 80 hours Bi-Weekly. Work days are Monday through Saturday with evenings and some Sundays. Hours will vary and be determined by supervisor.
Education and experience
Requires a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from a graduate library school program accredited by the American Library Association and two years of progressively responsible experience as a professional librarian in a public library system or a department or division of a main library.
Demonstrated leadership or management experience and the ability to work independently is preferred.
Two years of prior supervisory experience is preferred.
Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
