Description:

Under the supervision of the Head of the Downtown Library, is responsible for the smooth daily operation of the unit and the coordination of tasks of the Downtown Library; supervises two USPS positions and 2-3 student assistants; supports, both administratively and clerically, the Subject Librarians, Valencia College Librarian, and the Department Head; serves as departmental liaison and contact person to the Libraries administrative office.

 

Plans and coordinates all support activities; as supervisor, oversees daily operation of the unit and problems that occur within the operation of the unit.  Trains and assists departmental staff and student assistants in the use of systems and software.  Provides basic troubleshooting and repair recommendations for unit equipment, hardware, and software.  Makes recommendations when appropriate for increased efficiency.  Schedules and records maintenance of equipment.  Chronicles departmental policies and procedures and maintains and updates departmental manuals.  Supervises the preparation and transport of documents and materials to and from the main library.  Prepares statistical reports.

 

In consultation with the Department Head, hires, trains, and develops work assignments; evaluates USPS personnel and student assistants; plans and coordinates staff schedules and calendar.  Prepares and verifies time cards for Department Head review prior to payroll certification by the Libraries’ administration office. 

Is jointly responsible for the supervision of punctuality and attendance of all Downtown Library USPS and student.

Liaison with Libraries administration, UCF IT, and UCF downtown administration for personnel, payroll, systems, and facilities issues.  Orders office supplies and complies with Purchase Card procedures.  Analyzes equipment, workflow, and material needs, implementing systems to support needs and making recommendations when appropriate for increased efficiency.

 

Hours: Generally, 8 am - 5 pm. Some evening and weekend hours may be required not to exceed 40 hours per week.

Education:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience

Preferred: Experience in library duties such as circulation. fines, reserves, or interlibrary loan; excellent customer service skills, computer skills, and general office skills.
