Description:

Functioning as a part-time member of our team, this professional librarian position supervises the operations of the library during evenings or weekend shifts, providing essential services to expand learning opportunities and foster student success, including assessing patron needs, determining the best information to meet those needs, searching for and instructing patrons how to find and acquire accurate information.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Provide one-on-one library skills instruction and assist patrons in using library classification schemes, online catalog, electronic journals, electronic databases, and other resources, through a variety of formats including face to face, telephone, email, or chat.

·       Supervise library operations during evening and weekend shifts including resolving patron account issues, supervising the work of student assistants, troubleshooting minor computer and equipment issues, and opening and closing the building including monitoring the cash register.

·       Assist in the development and provision of innovative and effective information services.

 


Education:

Master’s Degree in Library Science from a regionally accredited college or university and an institution accredited by the American Library Association.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The ability to work flexible hours and regular attendance at work are essential functions of this position.

•           experience or recent course work in reference services
