Responsible for the shelving and maintenance of library materials in the Stacks and the Automated Retrieval Center (ARC). Works at the Circulation Department's public service desk. Responsible for the operation of the Circulation Department as building supervisor with other Library Technical Assistants, on some weekends and evenings. Opens/closes the library as assigned.  

  • Responsible for the maintenance of library materials in the Automated Retrieval Center and in open stacks, including: clearing, sorting, storing, picking, and shelving of books, bin auditing and shelf reading and assisting in the shifting of the collection as needed. Responsible for hiring and training student assistants and assists with supervising and evaluation of student assistants performing stacks unit tasks.
  • Works at the Circulation Department's public service desk. Ensures smooth operation of the department; operates the computerized circulation system; provides circulation services, informational and directional assistance, and other services to patrons in a friendly and professional manner; and supervises student assistants assigned the Desk.
  • Assists with the stacks construction and moving projects. Must be familiar with and able to use the tools necessary to de-construct or assemble stacks shelving, including the stacks movers.
  • Responsible for hold shelf and holds requests.  Places holds and recalls and notifies patrons of status of holds.
  • Performs cash register transactions for the processing of library fines and bill.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Works other hours/days as assigned.

Education:

Minimum Qualifications: 

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Prefer candidate to have library stacks, circulation, academic library, and supervision experience. 

Ability to work well with others in a flexible team environment.
