Enriching the library experience for our customers by providing exemplary customer service that connects library customers to information, resources and services. Energetic and forward thinking, the Assistant Branch Manager performs professional, administrative, and supervisory work in a regional branch library. Assists in directing and managing branch services including public programming, circulation, reference services, and collection development.
Assists the Regional Branch Manager in the management of the day-to-day operations of a busy regional branch.
Assists the Regional Branch Manager in the implementation of county and library policies and procedures.
Supervises, directs, trains, and evaluates the work of professional and non-professional staff.
Responsible for fostering and delivering outstanding customer services that connect library customers to information, resources and programs.
Delivers accurate information services (reference and readers advisory) to customers, using cutting edge reference research technology and tools.
Teaches information literacy, equipping our customers to successfully negotiate the constantly changing and exponentially growing body of knowledge.
Enthusiastically engages the customer (children, tweens, teens or adults) individually or in groups for library programming.
Assists the Regional Branch Manager in the preparation of staff schedules, payroll, and reports.
Provides and supervises professional staff in material selection and collection management activities to meet the needs of the community.
Promotes the library in the community with excellent communication and presentation skills, and fosters community partnership.
Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited American Library Association accredited college or university. Three (3) years professional library experience, one (1) year of which must have been in public or youth services.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with the public, management and staff.
Must have strong supervisory skills to manage the day-to-day operations of a busy regional branch.
In-depth, professional level knowledge of library principles, practices and administration.
Position requires professional level knowledge of library automation systems, search strategies, electronic resources, databases, and live-chat reference services. Position requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite products.
