The Florida Atlantic University Libraries seek an innovative, flexible, forward-thinking, and motivated individual to join the Collection Management Team as Electronic Resources Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Collection Management, the incumbent will play a lead role in managing the life cycle of the Libraries’ licensed electronic resources, including databases, e-journals, e-books, and streaming videos, that comprise the general electronic collections for the Boca Raton, Jupiter, and HBOI campuses. The librarian serves as the expert on e-resources issues related to licensing, discovery, access, and maintenance.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the day-to-day life cycle of electronic resources, including licensing, activation, discovery, access, and maintenance.
  • Manage, review, and negotiate licenses to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms.
  • Activate new acquisitions in the knowledgebase.
  • Maintain linking to electronic resources.
  • Ensure the accuracy of holdings, licensing, and vendor information.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot electronic resources access issues, and provide expert support to ensure ongoing usability and accessibility.
  • Actively collaborate with the Head of Collection Management on current and future electronic resources collection strategies.
  • Develop, document, recommend, and implement new approaches and workflows to the management of e-resources in order to facilitate the seamless delivery of information to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and report the usage data of electronic resources to help guide collection development and acquisitions decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with library staff in Access Services, Information Technology Services, Instruction and Engagement Services, Interlibrary Loan, and Medical and Health Sciences Collections & User Services to provide a productive electronic resources environment for library users.
  • Collaborate with consortial partners on statewide and shared collections and effectively manage them and make them available to users.
  • Assist in renewing online journal packages, databases, e-book collections, and streaming media.
  • Train other staff in the department to assist with e-resources management.
  • Work with the Collection Development Librarian in creating collections reports for academic departmental accreditations and program proposals.
  • Serve as a library faculty liaison to one academic department.
  • Serve on library, university, regional, state, and/or professional organization committees.
  • Establish and sustain a program of high quality research and/or creative accomplishments appropriate to electronic resources and collection management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualification: 


  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library and Information Science or its equivalent
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing electronic resources in an academic library in one or more of the following areas: reviewing licenses and negotiating with vendors, troubleshooting electronic resources 
    access issues, working with link resolver software, e-resources acquisitions, retrieval and review of usage statistics.
  • Be able to navigate through the complex and ever-changing world of electronic resources and effectively communicate such changes to library colleagues, patrons, and other stakeholders.
  • Possess initiative and flexibility in the approach to work.
  • Ability to prioritize and work both independently or as part of a team with colleagues, faculty, and staff in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment.
  • Broad knowledge of current trends in higher education, academic libraries, the publishing industry, and the changing scholarly communication environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in an academic library.
  • Two years post master’s professional academic library experience working with electronic resources.
  • Familiarity with EBSCO Discovery Service, Ex Libris Aleph Integrated Library System, OCLC Connexion.
  • Experience implementing and using an electronic resource management system.
