Description:

The Lee County Library System is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Youth Collection Development Manager. Reporting to the Collection Manager, this position will provide leadership and direction in the development, management, and maintenance of library youth collections in all formats.

This position oversees the collection development, collection management, maintenance, and budget of the youth services collections for the Lee County Library System. Work will include supervising and evaluating assigned staff, assuring proper workflow for area of responsibility, making recommendations regarding budgeting, preparing reports and presentations as needed, and coordinating and leading system-wide collection development meetings for youth services staff. 

The hiring salary for this position will be $55,813.94 - $67,000.00 annually based on experience.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops, and administers system-wide youth collection development procedures.
  • Manages all aspects of youth collection development to ensure a comprehensive and responsive collection. This includes budgeting, selecting materials, reviewing branch orders, monitoring holds, and creating and evaluating statistical reports.
  • Provides support to branch staff for collection development and collection management including training branch staff in material selection and deselection.
  • Recruits, interviews, trains, supervises, coaches, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • May perform other duties or projects within the Library System as needed.

Education:

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Library or Information Science from a graduate library school program accredited by the American Library Association. Four years of progressively responsible experience in professional library work. 

Prefer a Master's degree in Library Science from a graduate library school program accredited by the American Library Association.

Possession of a valid Class E Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

  • Demonstrated leadership or management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with youth-related materials or activities is preferred.
  • Forward thinking in terms of materials, trends, and how collections and materials will change in the future.
  • Stays abreast of trends and changes so current collection policy and practices are continuously evaluated.
  • Comfortable with the use of technology and software.


Work hours and days: 80 hours bi-weekly; hours and days will vary to include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.
