Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs operations and activities of the Wilderness Coast Public Libraries Cooperative under the jurisdiction of the Governing Board. Wilderness Coast is a public library cooperative serving Franklin, Jefferson, and Wakulla Counties, and is a Special District of the State of Florida.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with state, county, and local officials and member library directors in order to coordinate library operations. Develops and implements programs and services in consultation with member library directors. Prepares annual cooperative application for State Aid to Libraries funding, assists member library directors with individual library funding applications. Supervises cooperative staff; plans, assigns, and schedules work; hires employees; conducts performance evaluations and recommends salary adjustments. Coordinates administration of cooperative's Koha Integrated Library System. Coordinates selection and curation of Wilderness Coast Overdrive collection. Participates in professional activities in order to maintain current awareness of public library trends. Prepares and administers annual cooperative office budget, assists accountant with preparing documentation for required annual audit. Prepares documents for Governing Board meetings. Submits required filing and reports to the Florida Local Government Financial Reporting System. Analyzes statistical information and prepares reports. Will supervise the anticipated move of administrative office from Monticello back to Crawfordville upon completion of a new Wakulla County Public Library facility.
Required: Master's Degree from an institution accredited by American Library Association, two or more years full-time professional experience working in a public library, ability to travel independently to all member locations as needed, valid driver's license, pass drug screening and background check.
Desired: Supervisory experience, knowledge of current trends in public library programming and services; proficiency in the use of Koha integrated library system; demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to establish criteria, formulate projects and assess program effectiveness; understanding of public library technology standards, policies, and trends.
