Library Systems & Services (LS&S) is seeking a Library Programs and Marketing Coordinator for the Homestead Cybrarium in Homestead, Florida. The Library Programs and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the development and oversight of the Cybrarium’s marketing, outreach and communications strategies and activities as well as overseeing and presenting programming for all age groups within the facility and the community. This is an ideal position for someone who is capable of nurturing and creating partnerships with a variety of community organizations including schools, parent groups, business organizations, museums, literacy and service organizations, media and others. Ensures appealing, high-quality programs that enrich the lives of patrons.   

Scheduled to open in Q4 of 2020, the Cybrarium will cover two floors of a four-floor mixed use entertainment and community center known as Homestead Station in Miami-Dade County. The Cybrarium will bring excitement to the library, literacy, and learning by using innovations like virtual reality. The Cybrarium will feature a Virtual Reality Cube, Book Mountain, and a pop-up Children’s Theatre.

• Leads the planning, promoting, implementing and executing of programming activities for all ages, such as Summer Reading
and STEM topics that reach a variety of customers
• Identifies and engages talented groups and individuals that can deliver quality programs in accordance with the strategic plan
• Maintain programming budget, keeping a record of all expenditures to include contracts and receipts
• Develops and manages marketing and communication strategies that serve the mission and programs of the Cybrarium
• Supervises outreach activities which may include writing articles or newsletters, email campaigns, giving presentations to
organizations, and preparing publicity materials highlighting Cybrarium events
• Creates and administers surveys as directed to gather information on programs, materials and services
• Serves as primary media contact; duties include: write/distribute press releases, distribute artist publicity materials, pitch
stories, cultivate media relationships, assists the Library Director (the primary spokesperson) in interactions with the media,
serve as secondary press spokesperson as appropriate, and keep media lists current
• Develops and oversees online communities and social networks
• Oversees web site to promote the Cybrarium and develop awareness of services and programs; ensure content is accurate
and updated, oversee development of visuals, and work with staff to make sure patrons have a smooth web experience
• Supervises development of print and electronic materials for the Cybrarium, including brochures, newsletters, flyers, email
campaigns, signs, etc.
• Ensures promotional materials from performers or presenters are distributed as appropriate, and that all publicity
requirements (from the performers or presenters) are met
• Analyzes data in formulating and refining marketing strategies
• Seek grants and other sources of funding for programs
• Maintain currency of knowledge of library and programming trends
• Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations



An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.

• Bachelor's degree required

• Progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications preferred

• Experience working in a public library is strongly preferred

• Ability to creatively plan and implement programs for all ages

• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with a diverse community of customers and library staff

• Possess a sophisticated understanding of the tools of marketing, social media, along with excellent communication, facilitation

and planning skills

• Have the ability to work as part of a team and the ability to motivate others

• Extensive background and ability to be creative and innovative in developing marketing planning and current marketing strategies

• Ability to evaluate marketing data and trends, and prepare recommendations based upon information collected

• Able to work effectively with the media outlets and public officials

• Excellent writing and editing skills

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

• Ability to work effectively under constant deadlines; excellent organizational skills, time management efficiency, and careful

attention to detail

• Experience with computer systems and software including word processing, spreadsheet, website and graphic design;

knowledge of html, and social media platforms


* Selected candidate can expect a tentative start date of September 24, 2020 to prepare and train for the Cybrarium opening. *
