Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience planning and evaluating library service programs.
  • Experience developing and implementing projects and programs for adults, seniors or special populations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
  • Two years of library work experience.
  • Cover letter addressing the required knowledge, skills and abilities specified in the advertisement.

Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in library science or similar from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
  • Library experience serving the needs of adults, seniors or special populations.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with compiling and analyzing technical and statistical data.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports statewide and local library programs that contribute to serving the needs of adult, senior and special populations (e.g., deaf, blind and sight impaired) in Florida. More specifically, creates and compiles library programming best practices for adult learning and literacy. Develops partnerships with key agencies and organizations to promote adult literacy, senior programming and ADA compliance in Florida libraries.

Provides consulting services. Responds to requests for information. Prepares grant applications, proposals, reports, position papers, and other documents to support serving the needs of adult, senior and special populations in Florida.

Works in a team environment in the Bureau of Library Development to plan and implement Bureau and Division activities, including continuing education opportunities, outreach, publications, surveys, grant administration and other priorities. Efforts are consistent with the values and beliefs of the Division enumerated in the long-range plan for library development in Florida.

Performs other work related duties as required. Ensures that use of the State Purchasing Card (P-Card) conforms to all state and departmental rules and procedures.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with planning and evaluating library service programs
  • Experience developing and implementing projects and programs for adults, seniors or special populations
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel and the ability to learn other software, programs and systems, as needed
  • Two years of library work experience
  • Library experience serving the needs of adults, seniors or special populations preferred
  • Experience with project management preferred
  • Experience with compiling and analyzing technical and statistical data preferred
