The University of North Florida, in Jacksonville, invites applications for a Virtual Learning Librarian. The Thomas G. Carpenter Library is the vibrant academic hub for the university’s 17,300 students. The Library is located at the center of the campus surrounded by beautiful grounds, a nature preserve, and an active community of student and faculty scholars.
As a member of the Instruction team, this library faculty position participates in the planning, coordination, delivery, and assessment of the library’s virtual services including online instruction, research consultations, chat/email/text research assistance, and the Library’s Virtual Learning Center (VLC). Promotes and maintains an understanding of the evolving role of active teaching, learning, and research through innovative instruction. Demonstrates knowledge of best practices and current trends in all areas related to research and information literacy with the purpose of continuously improving services. Documents and assesses the activities, effectiveness, and needs of library services and programs through statistical analysis, formal reports, and presentation. Provides virtual services and information literacy instruction to faculty and students in accordance with professional guidelines. Works under the general supervision of the Head of Instruction. ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science
At least two years of experience in providing online, hybrid, or in-person instruction
Experience with assessment and evaluation methodologies and activities
Excellent commmunication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, particularly the ability to explain complex concepts to a wide variety of users in individual and group settings.
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with a willingness to be flexible and experiment with new methods and technologies
Ability to collaborate, maintaining collegial working relationships with administrators, staff, and faculty
