Sarasota County Public Libraries seek an enthusiastic, innovative leader for the Shannon Staub Public Library located on the campus of the Suncoast Technical College in North Port, Florida
The new library manager will act as a liaison with Suncoast Technical College and work with the Friends of the Shannon Staub Public Library. The manager will take an active role in the community of North Port promoting the value, mission and services of this innovative library.
Job Description:
This is a management level position responsible for planning, budgeting, directing and supervising the operation of a branch library; continuing development of library services and resources; coaching, mentoring, and supervising staff; developing and maintaining community partnerships, including with the Friends of the Library. The Manager participates with the Management Team to establish service plans to meet the objectives of the Library System. Contributes to a culture characterized by respect and commitment to excellent service.
The Library opened in November 2017 and is part of a joint venture between Sarasota County, the Sarasota School Board and the City of North Port. The Suncoast Technical Campus features a joint use library for students and for the general public. This is the second library for the city and is located 10 miles from the North Port Library located at Biscayne Boulevard and US-41. The Library serves the growing population near I-75 and Toledo Blade Boulevard.
The Library contains a multimedia collection, a variety of meeting rooms for library programming and community use, a teen space, a Story Time room, a Creation Station and outdoor reading gardens. An automated check-in and sorting system are available with a convenient drive-up book return.
A Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited institution AND three (3) years of supervisory experience in a public library is required.
