Responsible for directing the activities of the Intellectual Resources Division service chain that provides print and electronic books, audiovisual, and other materials to the public. Coordinates work between the Collection Development and Technical Services sections. Ensures high standards involved in cataloging and processing of print and non-print library materials, maintenance of the Library's bibliographic and item databases. Responsible for developing the Division’s Strategic Plan goals and objectives. Oversees the preparation of the system wide materials budget and planning; monitors and adjusts materials selection operations to meet goals and objectives. Develops and implements policies and procedures relating to Division responsibilities; recommends Division goals and objectives to Library Administration. Trains staff on intellectual freedom principles and responds to the public concerning collection development issues. Coordinates with other Library Divisions and vendors to ensure timely access to resources. Serves as a member of the Library’s Management team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association; five (5) years of progressively responsible library experience, which includes four years of related supervisory experience. Preference for experience: Public library experience; strong customer service orientation; participatory management skills; knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of library science; ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Problem-solving abilities and aptitude for complex, analytical, and detailed work.
