The purpose of the class is to provide basic library services primarily for youth.  The class is responsible for assisting patrons with reference searches, general library services, assisting with library projects, and specialized functions.  The class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. 

Requires a high school diploma or GED.  Requires experience with youth in a library organization or other related fields. This class must be able to guide others, making frequent decisions, affecting the individual, coworkers, library patrons, and others that depend on the service or product.  The ability to perform addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and calculates ratios, rates and percent’s; to read routine sentences, instructions, regulations, procedures, or work orders; to write routine sentences and completes routine job forms and incident reports, to speak routine sentences using proper grammar. Performs clerical and manual tasks prescribed by standard practices but which may require computation, the use of several procedures, and the use of independent judgment with obvious choices; requires normal attention for accurate results.  Requires a valid State of Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
