Description:

The Florida State University (FSU) Libraries seek a Head of Access Services and Delivery (ASD) to coordinate and manage an exciting portfolio of services that include (but are not limited to):
Circulation services at Strozier library (FSU’s main library) and the STEM libraries (Dirac Science Library and FAMU-FSU College of Engineering), Collections Access for the general collection (incl. journals, multimedia, maps, etc.) and the remote storage facility,  Library Express Delivery Service (LEDS), delivers materials for faculty and graduate students to their department offices, Curbside and in-library delivery, the libraries’ newest services in response to the COVID19 pandemic, Course Reserves, and Technology loans

As Head of ASD you will work collaboratively with groups across the FSU central libraries and other campus libraries to create a seamless and inclusive service environment. The Head of ASD will evaluate physical and digital services to develop consistent service standards, policies and procedures. To accomplish this goal you have a commitment to data driven decision making, which you balance with a passion for delivering consistently high-quality services. Understanding the art and science of designing and delivering top-notch library services is key to success in this role.

Working with a talented and enthusiastic team of 15 full-time employees as well as a significant number of student employees, you provide leadership for a suite of services that are some of the most visible services in the libraries. In this high transaction environment, you will be able to manage with grace, review existing services and processes, and innovate when and where opportunities arise.

As a part of the Research and Learning Services division of the libraries you participate in decision making that supports the Libraries’ strategic plan.

 

Responsibilities

 

Provide leadership and management of circulation, collections access, reserves, technology support, and user experience.

Hire and train departmental staff in coordination with administration and colleagues.

Develop departmental policies and procedures that establish and maintain consistently high standards across all services.

Explore and implement new ways to capture data that enables effective assessment and evaluation of programs and services.

Serve on library, campus, and other committees as appropriate.

Contribute to state, regional and national professional organizations; participate in research, publication, and other professional and scholarly activities.

Education:

Qualifications

Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or a relevant graduate degree.

Minimum of two years experience in a library or similar setting managing frontline services.

Deep understanding of and experience with at least one integrated library system (ILS)

Commitment to and experience in evaluating and assessing programs, services, and users’ needs.

Successful supervisory and personnel management experience.

Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and implement effective services, programs, and complex projects.

Sensitivity to issues surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion and a track record of creating inclusive and equitable services.

Solid grasp of issues, trends and technologies impacting higher education and libraries.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team member in a changing environment

Preferred

Ability to meet the Libraries’ requirements for scholarship, service, and leadership.

An entrepreneurial, positive, collaborative, and creative attitude.
