General Description:  Plans, develops and implements arts programs and special events.  Plans and provides theatre-related instruction and education to staff and public.  Advises on theatre and performing arts-related projects systemwide.

 

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities:  All employees will be required to work before, during or after an emergency.  During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

* Plans, develops and implements innovative and compelling arts programs and events for adults and children, including in-person and virtual performances, artist talks, classes, lectures, etc.

*  Operates theatrical lighting, sound and related equipment and systems during events.

*  Plans and produces technical and performance theatrical educational/instructional workshops or programs.

*  Develops related educational materials and best practices standards.

*  Coordinates theatre bookings and scheduling of events, including related logistical tasks such as setup, breakdown, seating, ticketing, etc.

*  Coordinates volunteers and community organizations to assist in planning, developing and implementing theatre and performing arts activities and programs within the community.

*  Keeps apprised of events, via reservation software and coordinates scheduled activities with public's use of the facilities to ensure the enjoyment of all involved.

*  Maintains records and data collection regarding theatre usage and provides status reports related to tasks.

*  Works closely with Branch Manager, Regional Branch Manager and Libraries Public Services on theatre and  performing arts-related projects.

*  Works independently and as part of a larger creative team.

*  Performs related work as required.

*  On call responsibility and occasional off hours work may be required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

*  Knowledge of techniques for developing theatre and performing arts programs and activities.

*  Knowledge of theatrical lighting and theatrical audio principals, practices, techniques and console operation.

*  Knowledge of performing arts disciplines, including but not limited to music, dance, performance, etc.

*  Ability to effectively manage time.

*  Ability to organize and conduct programs and events and evaluate program results.

*  Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives and the general public in a professional manner.

*  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

*  Skill in speaking before groups and conducting demonstrations and tours.

*  Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends and holiday.

 


Education:

Minimum Requirements:

 

Physical Skills:  Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.  May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects.  Job requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and reaching.  Requires use of a video display monitor, keyboard and mouse.  Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.

 

Education, Training and Experience:  Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in theatre arts, theatre design, theatre performance, music, dance, or closely related field.  Two (2) years of experience in theatre or performing arts program planning and implementation.

 

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:  Must possess a valid driver's license.
