Administers and oversees the operation of a major section in a branch library. Interprets and explains library policies/procedures to the public and staff; creates and approves classes and activities for adults; provides research services to members; resolves member complaints/problems; monitors materials budget/selection; recommends the hiring, promotion and termination of staff; trains and directs professional/paraprofessional library system personnel; supervises the use of online and electronic resources utilized for public computer classes; participates in long-range planning and committee work. QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association; minimum of two (2) years of professional library experience, including one (1) year of administration of a program of service in a library or one (1) year of supervisory experience. PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Conducting oral presentations/speaking in public; providing/overseeing library research services (must specify of application) using SIRSI/iBistro/Illiad/OCLC/Worldcat/Title Source III. Also desirable: Bilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
