The purpose of the class is to provide basic library services primarily for youth. The class is responsible for assisting patrons with reference searches, general library services, assisting with library projects, and specialized functions. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Requires a high school diploma or GED. Requires experience with youth in a library organization or other related field. This class must be able to guide others, making frequent decisions, affecting the individual, coworkers, library patrons, and others that depend on the service or product. The ability to read routine sentences, instructions, and procedures with understanding; to write routine sentences and complete routine job forms and incident reports, and to speak routine sentences using proper English is required. Strong computer and internet skills required. Proficiency in video gaming systems required. Proficiency in audio/video production required. Working knowledge of social media platforms, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc. preferred. Requires a valid State of Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
