Description:

Present energetic and fun educational programming to youth patrons (infant to 17 years) and parents/caregivers. Share a passion for youth literature by supporting children and caregivers in the selection of age and grade appropriate library materials. Assist Librarians in program creation and coordination. Aid in the selection and deselection of materials in the youth collections. Assist patrons of all ages with library services including reader advisory, patron access computers, printing, and eLibrary resources. Support the front desk, circulation, reference, or other library areas/functions as assigned.  Provide outstanding in person, phone, and digital customer service to patrons of all ages and backgrounds.


Education:

Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor's degree with training emphasis in library science, education, or allied field supplemented
by I to 3 years; previous experience and/or training involving library work, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform essential job functions. Applicants must have experience (paid or volunteer) working directly with youth, parents, and youth programming.

Minimum Abilities Ability to communicate confidently, articulately, and professionally verbally and in writing. Ability to multitask. Ability to use common office software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to count change and handle
money.  Ability to place items in correct order (alphabetical, numerical, etc.). Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work with and troubleshoot office machines (i.e. copier, fax machine, scanner, etc.).  Ability to apply library policies and procedures.  Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
