Under the direct supervision of the Library Director, this position organizes adult, teen and children's programming and services at the Library, including reference work, utilization of Library resources, selection of resources for the Library’s collection, circulation desk services, annual statistical reports, staff training, monitoring of staff procedures and routines, marketing, and Library programming. This position also assists the Library Director in coordinating and supervising the day‐to‐day operations of the Library including circulation, technology and information services, collection management, personnel, facilities, and performs other administrative duties as assigned. Responsible for ordering books, DVDs and other items for the Library; handling and filling all interlibrary loans, including requests from other libraries and processing all items for transportation and circulation; working at the circulation desk, in the computer room and out on the floor as needed; creating employee work schedules; monitoring and tracking tasks assigned to the Library volunteers; collecting data and statistics; preparing regular monthly and annual narrative and statistical reports for the Library Director for submittal to the Town Manager; participating in the annual evaluation of the Library’s Long Range Plan and assisting the Library Director in updating the annual Library Action Plan for approval by the Town Manager and Town Commission; keeping current with library trends, issues and technology as well as economic and demographic issues that may affect library services and programs; and, assisting the Library Director in evaluating, recommending for acquisition, processing, cataloging and filing all Library materials and resources in collaboration with staff, as determined by patron needs and interest.

Must have a Master's in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association is required; and a minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in a library that is open to the public for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Must also have knowledge of professional library principles, ethics, and standards; strong supervisory, leadership, decision-making, team-building, conflict resolution skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with Library staff, departmental officials, Friends of the Lake Park Public Library, Inc., and the general public; knowledge and understanding of reference service work, collection management, and circulation desk management in libraries; knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to public library management; excellent oral, writing, presentation, and listening skills; strong marketing skills; excellent customer service skills; and the ability to develop long-term and short-term plans.
