The Ladies Improvement Association founded the Delray Beach Public Library in 1913. In 1938 the Delray Beach Public Library Association became a not-for-profit corporation to provide a public library in Delray Beach. Since 1950, our patrons have received library service through a successful public/private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a large percentage of the annual operating budget and the Library Association has raised capital funds.

The Library & Technology Assistant I enjoys interacting with a diverse library team and serving a diverse community. The candidate thrives performing a variety of tasks providing exceptional and friendly customer service. Must be detail-oriented while working well with a team; demonstrate an entrepreneurial mind-set learning and applying new knowledge; must be flexible, dependable, and accountable.

The Reference Services Department continues to build on its success and is a well-regarded hub of information, dynamic programming, and exceptional collections. We strive to serve the diverse Delray Beach community with technology and computer training via our expertly trained staff, Older Adults Tech Academy, Creative Cloud Lab and MS Office Training.
The Circulation Services Department focuses on its customer-centric approach providing exceptional, friendly service to our community members. We excel in facilitating access services to our print, audiovisual, and digital collections, promoting library resources, reader advisory, and communicating related library guidelines.
Under the direct supervision of the Department Heads, the Library & Technology Assistant I, performs public service work of a routine nature, related to customer service, computers, and technology, which requires the application of excellent oral and written communication skills, skilled techniques, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HOURS
This is a part-time position with a maximum of 19 hours, including weeknights and alternating weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift 25 pounds in the shifting and moving of library materials and equipment required. Ability to navigate stairs, kneel, bend, reach, stand for 2 hours, stretch and stoop in the maintenance of computer hardware and systems. Must be able to work weekends and evenings as necessary, as well as other duties as required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Knowledge of Koha or other online cataloging system a plus. Highly competent in computer use, technology, hardware, and software. Competence in the necessary technical skills and the ability to tactfully manage challenging customer service situations; strong customer service skills and experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates respect for diversity and inclusion of cultural values. Working knowledge of library methods and procedures preferred. Experience working with adults and older adults preferred. Spanish and/or Creole/French speaking is a plus.
