Description:

Our former Night Library Technology Specialist is now our Innovation Lab Manager, so we have an open position.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Services, the Night Library Technology Specialist is a full-time staff position and is responsible for supporting student, faculty, and staff technology needs in the library, including needs in the Innovation Lab, in the evenings until the library closes. This includes but is not limited to the specific duties listed below.

The schedule for this position is currently 3:00 pm to midnight, but will eventually move to 5:00 pm to 2:00 am.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists patrons with, and troubleshoots the use of, computers, printers, copiers, and scanners
  • With the Innovation Lab Manager, manages hardware and software and assists students in the Library’s Innovation Lab, including maintenance of 3D printers and other emerging technologies; develops and teaches workshops related to the Innovation Lab equipment, some for cultural credit
  • Ensures that the public, faculty, and staff workstations in the library are operating at their peak performance, including the coordination of all hardware/software issues
  • Collaborates with the Innovation Lab Manager to assist on special projects
  • Assists with library website design, optimization, administration, and content creation
  • Communicates technology related issues to the Innovation Lab Manager, the Director of Public Services, and the Library Systems Team as appropriate
  • Stays current with library and emerging technologies
  • Assists the Night Circulation Supervisor with the functioning of the Circulation Department, including participating in staffing the front desk, assisting with closing the library, working with the library’s computer system, and handling numerous circulation-related transactions, and helping to develop circulation procedures for circulating technologies
  • Uploads data from the Cultural Credit scanners
  • Answers questions from students, faculty, and staff about library policies and procedures
  • Works with the Night Circulation Supervisor to help supervise student assistants
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

Minimum Education:  Bachelor's Degree
