The Gulfport Public Library is looking for a dynamic talented librarian, to provide juvenile and young adult readers advisory and reference services. Coordinates toddler, preschool, youth, and teen programs. Coordinates in-library tours of children’s area for individuals and groups and conducts outreach to schools, day care centers, recreation centers, and with other designated agencies. Coordinates the Summer Reading Program, and the Summer Teen Volunteer Program. Assists with collection development and purchasing of juvenile and young adult materials. Participates in County –wide Library Youth Service programs and meetings. Works with patrons and maintains a high level of customer service even in difficult situations. Works with computerized circulation software and other library databases and websites. Maintains library website along with other librarians and city staff. Checks out books and other materials. Processes new library cards. Knowledge of current principles of juvenile and your adult library services. Knowledge of juvenile and young adult materials. Knowledge of how the use of technology applies to library service. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Ability to coordinate the work of assigned staff and volunteers. Ability to learn and apply complex automated procedures and to utilize computer equipment, the internet, and new technologies in performance of day-to-day work. Entry $22.345/hour.
