Summary
The Outreach Librarian publicizes and promotes the library as the intellectual center of the campus community through programming, research help and information literacy instruction, exhibitions, presentations, events, marketing, publications and orientations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement programs, exhibitions and events, and create a systematic public face and branding for the library through publications and the library's web presence
- Develop and periodically update a marketing and publicity plan for the library
- Create brochures, pamphlets, flyers, posters and other publications for the library
- Develop annual programs, publications, exhibitions and marketing budget
- Conduct surveys, focus group sessions and market research among the library's various user populations to assess the quality and use of collections and services
- Act as a liaison with certain departments and student life units, paying close attention to student diversity organizations and special populations such as students with learning differences, academically at-risk students, distance education students, international students, non-traditional adult undergraduates and employed professionals
- Conduct library instruction sessions for Lynn students and partner with faculty to design sessions specific to the needs of their students
- Work with the Offices of Admission and Student Life to offer library orientation sessions and tours for prospective students and their parents, new faculty, incoming freshmen, transfer students and graduate students
- Offer reference service and research assistance to students and faculty through in-person consultations, chat, email and more
- Establish and nurture joint educational partnerships between the library and academic departments, library consortia and the surrounding community and schools
- Coordinate development activities and work with the Development Office to create specialized programs and services for donors and potential donors
- Commitment to providing excellent public service
- Stays abreast of innovations and best practices in higher education, librarianship, and emerging technologies through professional literature and conferences.
- Serves on university committees and teams as required / appropriate
- Participates in the Lynn University Academic Council meetings
- Participates in regional and statewide consortia including SEFLIN and ICUF
- Assists in the development and documentation of library policies and procedures
- Partners with faculty, staff and students, as well as the broader community, giving guidance and instruction on library collections and services
- Participates in ongoing strategic planning and positioning of the library in the center of Lynn's priorities for teaching and learning
- Serves as a backup for other library staff and/or the director in their absence
- Some evening and weekend work may be required
- Performs other duties as required
- Education:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree required. MLIS in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution preferred; a different Master's degree will be considered, as will equivalent skills and experience.
- Preferred demonstrable experience in marketing and communications
- 1-3 years library experience, preferably in higher education
- Demonstrated understanding of the information needs of students (preferably in higher education), including experience serving students through research help and reference assistance
- Familiarity with information technology and information literacy instruction
- Knowledge of web-based branding, public relations principles and marketing techniques
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Skill in developing publications, annual reports, brochures and web content
- Skill in developing and administering assessment tools, such as surveys, and analyzing and reporting results
- Ability to work effectively with and provide service for a diverse academic community
